Fulbright Colombia offers around 80 scholarships for Masters and Doctorates in universities in the United States.

The minimum Fulbright financial aid package covers the total or partial cost of registration, university admission costs, health and accident insurance, intensive courses in English or preparation courses in the United States, the formal steps and cost of the visa in the US Consulate, and seminaries for professional enrichment in Colombia and the United States.

Each scholarship has its own terms for additional financing.  The normal Fulbright scholarship financial grant lasts for two years.  Those receiving scholarships for doctoral programs receive direct aid from the university where they are studying until the completion of their degree.

Scholarship winners should choose up to four universities where they are interested in undertaking their graduate studies.  The admission process in each university is handled by Fulbright.  US cooperative agencies which administer this process often recommend additional academic programs according to the profile of the scholarship holder.  The goal is to gain the Fulbright scholar entry into the best university possible with the greatest exemption from registration fees.

International Scholarship in Science and Technology
This scholarship for outstanding students finances doctoral studies in various universities of the United States in the fields of science, technology, or engineering.  One Colombian will be nominated to participate in this most highly competitive global contest which awards 25 scholarships worldwide each year.

University Development
This scholarship contributes to the academic development of Colombian universities through the training of professors in masters and doctoral programs in US universities in all areas (except clinical health care).  The candidates should be sponsored and presented by the universities which are responsible to hire the candidates once they have finished their studies.

Fulbright Colombia and Fulbright South America finance a scholarship for Colombian professors from a public university in Antioquia for masters or doctoral studies in the US.

Cultural Studies for Afro-Descendent and Indigenous Communities
With the objective to increase opportunities for various Colombian communities, Fulbright Colombia and the Ministry of Culture offer scholarship to Afro-descendent and indigenous communities to undertake masters or doctoral studies in the US in areas related to culture.  The study plan should be relevant for both the communities involved and the country.

Training of Afro-Descendent Leaders
The Colombian Government working through the Ministry of Education and ICETEX and the US Government working through USAID have joined forces with Fulbright Colombia to offer scholarships to Colombians belonging to Afro-descendent communities to undertake masters or doctoral studies in all areas of study in the United States.  The program grants special support for academic and English preparation as well as a leadership formation training.

Fulbright – Colciencias – Department of National Planning (DNP)
Based on an agreement between Fulbright, the Department of National Planning and Colcencias, these scholarships support academics and researchers associated to Colombian universities for masters or doctoral programs in the US.  The scholarship seeks to contribute to technological and scientific development and to increase the research capacity of the country by supporting advanced studies in the fields of science, technology, telecommunications, education, the humanities, social sciences, and engineering.

Fulbright – Mincultura (Ministry of Culture) for Artists
This program offers scholarships to Colombian artists who have shown outstanding artistic accomplishments to finish a masters or doctoral program in universities or specialized institutes in the United States.

Fulbright Graduate Scholarship
One of the most competitive programs of  Fulbright Colombia, the Fulbright Graduate Scholarship is an open program that finances masters or doctoral studies in US universities in most academic areas.

Fulbright – Southamericana
Professionals belonging to the companies of the Business Group of Antioquia can undertake  masters studies in US universities.

Regional Graduate Programs
Through an agreement involving Fulbright Colombia, the Ministry of Education, the Department of Planning, and Colciencias, masters and doctoral scholarships are offered to citizens from various regions of the country.  Scholarships winners are committed to returning to their department of origin once their program of studies has been completed.

Fulbright – Cerrejon scholarship for Guajira
Fulbright and Cerrejon co-finance a scholarship for professionals born in Guajira to undertake masters or doctoral studies.  The purpose of this program is to contribute to the development of the department of Guajira.
