This new program is a project for social responsibility set up by the Embassy of the United States of America and the Centro Colombo Americano with the objective of building a bilingual culture as a fundamental tool to enhance competitiveness and socio-cultural development.

In its initial stage the program is focusing on four educational institutions of the city of Pereira:  Institución Educativa Combia. Fundación Germinando, Instituto Suroriental de Boston, and Institución Educativa Combia Baja.  The purpose of the program is to aid these institutions in improving their English teaching practices in two fundamental areas:

1. Access to learning resources, formative materials, games and videos which incite the imagination and promote English language learning among students.  These learning tools are to be loaned to the students to be used in their educational facilities for a set period of time.  The material is rotated among the participating institutions.
2. Improvement in the linguistic and methodological abilities of English teachers in these four institutions without any cost to them or their institutions.
